Pre-Primary Through to Graduation
The following table shows an example of using the A.C.E. and SCEE resources to form a study pathway for a student from pre-primary through to graduation, obtaining an AEM A.C.E. Certificate. Subject areas on a pathway include Christian Studies, English, Literature, Maths, Science, Social Studies (History/Geography) and Word Building. Please see our Certificate Pathway page for information on graduate certificate options.
A.C.E. Level Comparison
In schools, children go up a ‘level’ based on their age, not their ability or readiness for learning at that level. The A.C.E. resources work differently. A.C.E. levels are used to indicate progress being made in learning. When a child masters the content in a particular level, they move up! Not because of their age.
Actual learning and steady progress is what we are looking for and measuring with the A.C.E. Level system. The analysis of a child's diagnostic test results determines the best starting point in using the A.C.E. materials. An exact match between the A.C.E. Level and school year levels is not used. The comparison guide below, is just that - a GUIDE for how age ranges, Australian/New Zealand year levels and A.C.E. Levels generally line up or correlate, using suggestions from our Study Guide (see below).
Study Guide
For each level, there are 12 PACEs and each PACE workbook is numbered accordingly. Starting at Level 1 with PACE workbooks 1001-1012, then Level 2 with 1013-1024,
and so on. Once a child reaches Level 7, this is the beginning of the Secondary level PACEs. The numbering system changes with some of the PACE workbooks for particular
courses following a 1-12 numbering system.
By the time a child reaches the end of Level 9, they will have completed the PACE workbook requirements for work equivalent to Year 10 in school.
Level 9 needs to be completed in order to obtain a Year 10 Certificate.
